INFORMATION

We are thrilled to announce the release of the entry form for the National Champions League 1. This prestigious Dance Sport event will take place in the vibrant city of Durban, in the province of KwaZulu-Natal on 20th of April 2024.

This is an amazing opportunity for you to showcase your Dance Sport skills and compete against some of the best Dance Sport athletes in the country. Whether you are a seasoned Championship athlete or a passionate beginner, we welcome dancers of all levels to participate in this exciting event.

The National Championship presents South African athletes, who will be crowned winners in their respective Championship age categories, with an opportunity to be selected to represent South Africa at the various WDSF World Championships in 2024.

The 2024 National Champions League 1 provides a platform for Dance Sport athletes to showcase their talent, dedication, and hard work. It’s an opportunity to push yourself to the limits and strive for excellence in the world of Dance Sport.

To enter the competition, kindly fill out the entry form provided, ensuring that all information is accurate to facilitate a seamless registration process and email your entries to entries@danceinsportsa.co.za. The deadline for entries is 5 April 2024. NATIONAL CHAMPIONS LEAGUE RULES

1.1. Definition

The National Champions League (NCL) Series is comprised of the three (3) National Championship competitions with a status for competing Championship and Professional couples to accumulate points in order to be eligible to appear on the National Rankings. The three National Champions League competitions three (3) shall be held in one Dance Sport calendar/season.

1.2. Eligibility
In order for a couple to appear on the National Rankings, points shall be recorded from the three (3) National Champions League Series events and points accumulated shall be published after every National Champions League.
In order to be eligible for selection to represent the country at the WDSF World Championships/ International/ World Open/ Grand Slam, couples MUST attend ALL three (3) National Champions League Series events viz; National Champions League Series events viz; National Champions League 1, 2, & 3 for the running season.  
The top six (6) ranked couples are eligible for selection to represent the country at the WDSF World Championships /International/World Open/Grand Slam and ONLY the couple ranked first (1st) automatically qualifies as the first representative to the WDSF World Championships in their age category. In case the 1st ranked couple is, in any way, incapable to represent, the Manager of the couple must inform the Federation, in which case the next couple up to 6th place on the National Rankings, is eligible to represent.

1.3. Partner Changes

In case of a partnership change, accumulated points shall be forfeited, the new partnership will have to start accumulating points from zero.

1.4. Allocation of National  Ranking Points
        1.4.1.   Every couple competing in a National Champions League competition shall be allocated   points in       the following order:

a)Couples from Rounds:   2 points each
b)Couples from Quarter-Final:  3 points each
c)Couples from Semi-Final:   5 points each

1.4.2.   Each couple who would have made the final shall be allocated one (1) point for every couple they   have beaten plus one (1) point for their position per dance.

Example 1.4.1 a) A couple – from Rounds to Quarter-Finals to Semi-Finals – who placed 1st in all 5 dances in a final with six (6) couples will be awarded a total of 40 points calculated as follows:
Rounds + QF + SF = [2 + 3 + 5 = 10]
Final = [6+6+6+6+6 = 30]                                                                                                                                                                                 Overall Points: [10 + 30 = 40]

Example 1.4.1 b): A couple – from Quarter-Finals to Semi-Finals – who placed 1st in all 5 dances in a final with six (6) couples will be awarded a total of 38 points calculated as follows:

QF + SF = [3 + 5 = 8]
Final = [6+6+6+6+6 = 30]
Overall Points: [8 + 30 = 38]
