The Competition will be preceded by an Athletes’ Workshop scheduled for Friday, 25th April 2025. Full details of the Workshop will be shared to membership and will be published on our website and Social Media platforms.

The following are the competition sections that will be danced during the 2025 National Champions League 1:

1.1. Main Stream Sections

• Level 1 to Level 4, Rising Star sections: Juvenile I and II, Junior I and II, Youth, Adult, Senior I, II and III
• Championship Sections: Junior II, Youth, Under 21, Adult, Senior I,II and III, Professional
  * International and Pro-Am

1.2. Special Sections

• All-Girls sections. The all girls sections will be treated as new sections and as such to enter in these sections, dancers will pay a full competition entry fee. Only levels 1 – 3 will be allowed to dance the all-girls sections. The minimum couples for all-girls section to be danced is three (3) couples. If there are two or less couples, the sections will be combined irrespective of age groups.
• Physically Challenged Sections. The competition will cater for special sections as defined by respective studios. For physical impairment, the entry form must clearly define the type of physical challenge to ensure that athletes are grouped accordingly and that the groupings display similar forms of physical challenges. Couples who are not physically challenged do not qualify under this category.
• Special Sections: These sections cater for solos (dancing without a partner)/singles where one dancer is accompanied either by a teacher/ or another competing dancer.
  * Appropriate age groups will apply.

The competition is open to all dancers irrespective of affiliation.

2.1. National Champions League

• Only couples in the Championship and Professional sections shall enter the National Champions League.
• Please note that the competition age category should match the age group that the dancer will fall within during the 2026 WDSF World Championships.
• In the interest of time and convenience for all the participants, no delays will be accommodated as this might lead to competitions finishing too late into the early hours of the next day. In order to ensure that every section runs on time, no new entries will be allowed on the date of the competition. The registration desk will be opened before the competition starts to eliminate unnecessary delays.

• By entering to compete in this Championship, the competitor/athlete/dancer agrees to abide by the Federation of Dance Sport South Africa National rules and terms and conditions applicable, outlined in this document and contained in the Federation’s constitution, competition rules and any other applicable bylaws.
• The stage area is reserved for Accredited Competition Officials and Accredited Guests ONLY.
• Right of admission to the competition is strictly reserved. No alcoholic beverages are allowed in the competition venue. No persons under the influence of alcohol will be allowed entry into the venue.

3. REGISTRATION & ENTRIES

• All Championship and Professional athletes competing in the National Champions League (NCL) Series MUST register for the WDSF e-Card before the NCL1 to obtain their WDSF Membership Identification Number (MIN). Already registered athletes must renew their MIN numbers upon receipt of a reminder from the WDSF Admin.
• PAB’s to ensure that ALL competing Federation of Dance Sport South Africa athletes must be paid up, registered members for 2025.
• Please ensure that you bring your original proof of payment to registration desk as it will be required to register.
• Late entries and entries received without proof of payment will NOT BE ACCEPTED.
• Entries may only be submitted on the official competition entry form which is also available as an online version.
• Sections will be combined or cancelled if insufficient entries are received, in accordance with the rules.
• Competitors must note starting times as sections will not be re-danced due to late arrivals.
• Athletes have to report to the marshalling area at least 5 sections before their sections are to be danced.
• Temporary cloth numbers will be available at the competition at a refundable deposit of R20 for ALL athletes. Dancers using unauthorized numbers will be disqualified.
• Only individuals that paid for table seats will be permitted to occupy seats and specific areas – this will be checked on a regular basis. So, please hold on to your ticket/tag.
• Non-officiating PABs, DTO’s must purchase a ticket to gain entry to the competition.

4. SYLLABUS & DRESS CODE
NATIONAL SYLLABUS & DRESS CODE WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED.

• All members are urged to seek information from their PAB if necessary. These are available from the Federation of Dance Sport South Africa website and Social Media pages.
• Athletes who do not adhere to the Dress Code will not be allowed to take the floor.
• Juvenile I & II and Junior I and II in all levels are not allowed to wear make-up, earrings, base, and dresses with sequins or Swarovski’s on their dresses.
• Junior I boys are only allowed to wear black or midnight blue Latin tops with no decoration or bling.
• Junior I Championship girls are allowed to wear competition dresses, but no feathers, sequins or Swarovski on the dresses. No make-up and no jewellery to be worn.
• Junior I and II Rising Star girls should be dressed in a leotard and skirt. No make- up or jewellery is allowed.
• The girls dancing in the Junior II Championship sections MUST wear the leotard and skirt. No make-up. Fancy dresses with bling are not allowed in these sections.

5. NO SMOKING POLICY

• Smoking is strictly forbidden in all areas of the venue!
• The venue operators will impose a fine on anyone caught smoking in the venue.

6. BEHAVIOUR OF ATHLETES AND SPECTATORS

• Club heads must ensure the well behaviour of their athletes and spectators.

7. VIDEO, CAMERA, CELL PHONES, I PADS, TABLETS, ETC

• Obtain a R50.00 permit at the door - persons found videoing without a permit will be fined.
